However, it was in the late 17th century that the oil gained widespread recognition in Europe. Princess Anna Maria de la Tremouille of Italy was captivated by the scent of orange blossoms and used the essence to perfume her clothes and body. This trend soon spread among the European aristocracy, and the oil was named “Neroli” after the princess's estate. Originating from the white petals of the bitter orange tree, which is widely cultivated in the Mediterranean region, this oil has long been valued for its calming and mood-enhancing properties, traditionally used in religious ceremonies and beauty practices.
